Anne-Marie Shumate

Anne Marie Shumate, M.Photog. Cr., CPP serves as President of Vision of Vets, a role entrusted to her by the organization’s founder, Bruce Roscoe. As an award-winning photographer and owner of Lasting Images Photography in Prescott, Arizona, Anne Marie brings both technical mastery and deep personal understanding to the mission of preserving veteran visual histories.

Her connection to military service is profoundly personal. Growing up as the daughter of a World War II veteran who served in North Africa and Italy, Anne Marie was immersed in both the stories and images of her father’s wartime experiences. Her father, an avid amateur photographer himself, understood the power of portraits to preserve memory and honor service—a legacy Anne Marie carries forward in her work today.

Her professional credentials place her among the nation’s elite photographers, holding Master of Photography, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer designations. As Past President of the Arizona Professional Photographers Association, she has demonstrated leadership within her profession that now extends to this vital preservation work.

Early in her career, Anne Marie worked in the archives at Sharlot Hall Museum, where she learned firsthand how personal histories shape our understanding of the past and illuminate the path forward. This experience deepened her conviction that every veteran’s story—captured visually and verbally—is an irreplaceable thread in the fabric of American history.

Under Anne Marie’s leadership, Vision of Vets continues its essential mission of ensuring that the voices and faces of those who served are never forgotten.
